Details: President Buhari Welcomes Senator Who Joins Ruling Party After Walking Free From N322m Fraud Case

Senator Peter Nwaoboshi has joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Nwaoboshi, 63, moved from the People’s Democratic Party to the APC a week after he was acquitted in a N322m fraud case.

A Federal High Court in Lagos on June 18, 2021, discharged the Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District at the National Assembly of the money laundering charges brought against him by the anti-corruption agency Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (APC).

The court also discharged Nwaoboshi’s firms listed on the charge sheet, Golden Touch Construction Project Ltd and Suiming Electrical Ltd.

The judgment was premised on the ruling that the EFCC failed to “failed to prove the elements of the offences for which it charged the lawmaker” in the case which started in 2018.

Barely a week after he walked free from the N322M fraud the Nwaoboshi joined the APC.

And President Muhammadu Buhari, the leader of the ruling party has officially welcomed him.

“You are welcome to the progressives family’’ a statement signed by Senior Special Adviser (Media) Garba Shehu – and released today, June 25, 2021 – quoted the President as saying to Senator Nwaoboshi.
