Senator Peter Nwaoboshi has walked free from the N322million fraud case he was battling.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain representing Delta North in the upper chamber has been freed from the charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to information sourced from a report monitored by societynow.ng on thenatioonlineng.net, a Federal High Court in Lagos discharged Senator Nwaoboshi of the charges of money laundering filed against him.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke reportedly held that the EFCC “failed to prove the elements of the offences for which it charged the lawmaker” the nationonlineng.net reported.

Societynow.ng gathered that the Senator’s two firms listed in the charge sheet – Golden Touch Construction Project Ltd and Suiming Electrical Ltd – were also discharged on the same ground.

The development ends the trial that started in 2018 when the defendants were arraigned before Justice Mohammed Idris who was appointed to the Appeal Court and Justice Aneke took over the case on October 5, the same year.
