Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has crowned himself the ‘’leader of all Democrats, regardless of political parties’’.

The politician made the declaration in a video released as part of efforts to galvanized support for Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the candidate of his party, All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Saturday, September 19, 2020, Edo State Gubernatorial Election.

In the video released today, Tuesday, September 15, 2020, urging voters to reject re-election seeking Godwin Obaseki, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Tinubu stated ‘’I Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu want to appeal as a committed Democratic and a leader of all Democrats regardless of political party to our conscience and commitment to democracy today on the forthcoming election in Edo State, I want to appeal to you to reject Godwin Obaseki in this coming election…’’

The apostles of the ‘’Edo No Be Lagos’’ slogan campaign against Ize-Iyamu based on the claim that he would enable Tinubu to become a shots caller in the politics of Edo State like he is in Lagos.
They have started using the Video by Tinubu to validate their claim and ramp-up opposition against Ize-Iyamu on the streets of Edo.

But loyalists of Ize-Iyamu are countering this move with the narrative that Tinubu’s open declaration for the rejection of Obaseki shows the resolve of major players in the party in charge of the Federal Government against the re-election seeking Governor of Edo State.

Obaseki was elected on the platform of the APC but defected to the PDP over the inability to secure a second term ticket which was given to Ize-Iyamu.

Ize-Iyamu was the candidate of the PDP who contested against Obaseki in the election that brought him to power.
