Governor of Ogun state, Dapo Abiodun has affirmed that elder state man, Aremo Olusegun Osoba is his guiding hand.
Osoba, a high profile journalist in his days of vigor, is a former Governor of Ogun state from 1992 to 1993 and later 1999 to 2003.
He celebrates his 84th birthday today, July 15, 2023.
“Under your guidance, our state has experienced unprecedented growth and progress, thereby transforming into a shining example of prosperity and inclusivity.” Governor Abiodun wrote in an open birthday message that started with “Our dear father, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, I am filled with immense joy and gratitude for the privilege of knowing and learning from you”
Abiodun is in the beginning of a second term in office secured by a narrow win – less than 14 votes.
His main challenger, Ladi Adebutu -the gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in March 18, 2023 Ogun has instituted a legal battle against the result.
Celebration Osoba on his 84th birthday, Abiodun declared “your commitment to the well-being of our citizens, the betterment of our society, and the pursuit of excellence in governance has been truly inspiring” and added “beyond your remarkable achievements, your God given wisdom, mentorship, and integrity has continued to resonate with me.”
The Governor who is in engulfed in a testy supremacy tussle with two of his predecessors – Senator Gbenga Daniel and former Senator Ibikunle Amosun – attested to the efficacy of politics as played by Osoba with the admission that ” your ability to navigate complex political landscapes with grace and fairness has set a high standard for leadership.” in the birthday message.
Telling other attributes of Osoba he he aspires for, Abiodun, 63, asserted that “your tireless efforts to uplift the marginalized, empower the voiceless, and create opportunities for all have set a benchmark that we strive to emulate.”
“On behalf of the government and people of your great State, I extend my warmest wishes to you, our dear father, Aremo Olusegun Osoba. May your birthday be filled with love, happiness, and good health.” ended the birthday goodwill message, Abiodun posted on his social media page.
Osoba informally labeled “the President’s uncle” is tagged one the key motivators of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu , especially when things got dark and uncertain, on the road to becoming the nation’s number one citizen.
