Details As Ogun Traditional Rulers “Refuse” To Meet With Amosun’s Anointed Guber Candidate
“For no justifiable reasons”
Biyi Otegbeye, the choice of Senator Ibikunle Amosun as the next Governor of Ogun State was scheduled to meet the Awori Council of Obas (Traditional rulers) today, Thursday, November 3, 2022.
The meeting between Otegbeye who is the gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2023 election in Ogun state and the council of traditional rulers was supposed to take place at the Palace of the Olota of Ota, Oba AbdulKabir Adeyemi Obalanlege in Ota, Ado-Ota, local Government area of Ogun state.
But after weeks of planning and confirmations, the meeting was reportedly canceled last night – indefinitely.
“For no justifiable reasons” Iyabo Anisulowo, a stakeholder in the politics of Ogun state and prominent campaigner for Otegbeye alleged.
Anisulowo, a former Minister – and senator – declared the cancellation of Otegbeye’s meeting with the Awori Council of Traditional Rulers at the last minute as “shocking” and alleged Governor Dapo Abiodun as the mastermind in a statement she signed.
Governor Abiodun who wants a second term is the candidate ruling the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 election.
“We smelled a rat and from our findings and reliable information that is not controvertible, it was discovered that the State Government had contacted the Awori Obas not to receive Barrister Biyi Otegbeye and his entourage today.” Anisulowo asserted in the press statement insisting that the stakeholders, leaders of the ADC and citizens of Ogun state are “disturbed” by this development she tagged “culture of intolerance and intimidation”.
SocietyNow.Ng’s checks revealed that without referencing this happening one of the image handlers of the Abiodun Administration Emmanuel Ojo, in what appears a subtle reaction posted on his Facebook page “Is there any party called ADC in Ogun State? Asking for a friend.”
ADC is the political party adopted by former Governor Amosun to enable his loyalists to contest the 2023 election after Governor Abiodun sidelined him – and his men – after taking over the APC structure in Ogun State.
“Forestalling A Culture Of Intolerance And Intimidation by prince Dapo Abiodun Towards The 2023 Elections In Ogun State” is the title Anisulowo gave the statement alleging Governor Abiodun of moving against the ADC and its gubernatorial candidate.
