Details As Lagos State House Of Assembly Officially Writes Gov Ambode On Impeachment Proceedings

The Lagos state House of Assembly has officially written Governor Akinwunmi Ambode over impeachment charges against him.

The Governor is accused of committing major infractions in the handling of finances of the state.

The infractions are said to have roots in the handling of the finances of the 2018 budget and spending done in the yet to be presented 2019 budget to the House of Assembly.

Societynow.ng gathered that the charges against Ambode were a result of investigation by the House Committee that reviewed the 2018 budget and interactions with the commissioners for finance, budget planning, attorney general and related stakeholders in the course of the findings, which led to the discovery of spending of funds earmarked funds in the yet to be presented 2019 budget.

Insiders confirmed to societynow.ng that the House officially – based on a unanimous decision – wrote to Governor Ambode yesterday notifying him of the impeachment charges and requesting his defense.

Societynow.ng gathered that the letter was dispatched to the Governor’s office yesterday – Monday, January 28, 2019 – evening.
