There is a high stake negotiation going on within the All Progressives Congress in Lagos state.

And the objective is to prevail on the re-election seeking Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to step down for former commissioner Babajide Sanwoolu societynow.ng learned.

Sanwoolu has emerged the choice of virtually every organ of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos state.

His popularity leapt beyond boundaries with official endorsement by the Lagos State House of Assembly and; the Governor’s Advisory Council, the highest decision-making body in Lagos state.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s open endorsement of Sanwoolu with a released picture also helped to cement talks of Sanwoolu’s “acceptance” in no small measure.

But Ambode who wants to secure another term in office by retaining party ticket as “candidate” has refused to back down.

Sources disclosed he is being goaded on against the power that helped him to office by those who feared the worst.

Insiders disclosed this development has resulted in the rise of threats of violence in the guise of protecting the Governor’s interest by “certain interests”.

Sources disclosed that the threat of violence became real at stakeholders meeting called by political leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on Saturday, September 30 2018.

The meeting was called off when individuals spoiling for violence in support of Ambode stormed the Lagos state party secretariat of the stakeholders meeting.

Societynow.ng learned signals that a more grave danger looms forced the APC to shift today’s (Sunday, September 30 2018) gubernatorial primary in Lagos to tomorrow, Monday, October 1 2018.

Information available revealed that with the party leadership not ready to back down on choosing Sanwoolu ahead Ambode pressure is being mounted on the governor to step down to avoid the obvious loss and possible violence – and it’s consequence.

“Ambode is being prevailed on to step down and avoid the looming violence. Negotiation is ongoing and part of the negotiation is that the governor has been told he is responsible for whatever happens if the indications in the security report play out” a source disclosed to societynow.ng.

Sources close to Ambode, however, insist the “political drama” playing out is just an attempt by certain individuals to retain political power in Lagos state.

“Ambode is just a victim of bad politics” his loyalists maintain on different platforms monitored by societynow.ng.
