Insiders have revealed fresh details about Ogun State Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele’s chances of succeeding Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola.

Adeola, who represents Ogun West, has emerged as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State after a long-running battle against opposition from different quarters.
His emergence has now opened up the Ogun West Senatorial seat.

Salako-Oyedele, one of those who had declared interest in succeeding Governor Dapo Abiodun, was initially linked to plans to compensate her with the senatorial ticket after concerns she might miss out on the governorship race.

But that arrangement was said to have hit stiff resistance from unexpected quarters, especially from an influential figure she showed “extreme loyalty” since assuming office.

Insiders, however, said her intense pushback and strategic moves by her husband, Bode Oyedele, have revived chances, putting the Deputy Governor back in strong contention for the APC ticket.

“She now has a strong chance, but there is still silent opposition here and there,” sources said.
