Death has settled the score for Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Mudashiru Obasa and his estranged mentor Senator Bayo Osinowo better known as Pepper.

Osinowo’s death earlier today puts an end to fight for supremacy over who controls the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Obasa had removed members considered loyal to Senator Osinowo from positions of influence in the Lagos State House of Assembly as part of efforts to maximize control as Speaker of the legislative.

The backlash was a barrage of corruption allegations against Obasa – which other political enemies leveraged on to come after – which the Speaker is yet to get over.

All through the mess, Obasa’s men kept point accusing fingers at Osinowo as the architect of his travails accusing the Senator of overreaching and power-hungry.

But with the death of Osinowo this after, all the political differences are over as shown in the statement released Obasa mourning the death of Senator Pepper.

The statement signed by Obasa’s Chief Press Secretary, Tolani Abati full of glowing words for Osinowo reads…

The death of Senator Sikiru Adebayo Osinowo aka Pepperito, came as a rude shock that, many of us in the House of Assembly are yet to recover from.

We were about to begin the plenary session of the day when the news of your demise filtered in and threw the whole assembly into disarray and mourning mood.

Not many could believe that the ebullient and ever smiling pepperito is gone.

Not many could come to terms that, the effervescent and peace maker is gone.

For the 16 years ( 2003- 2019) you were in the Lagos House of Assembly representing the good people of Kosofe Constituency 1, many loved you for the stabilizing role you played in some of the crisis that reared its head during that period.

Even though you were not the oldest in terms of age , many ran to you to seek solutions to their sociopolitical problems because of your political sagacity and Solomon wisdom approach to issues.

The Muslim community of the Lagos House of Assembly will forever be grateful to you for your fatherly role and financial commitment to their course particularly, in the building of the ultra modern Lagos House of Assembly mosque.

Your one year in the Upper Chamber( Senate) of the National Assembly as representative of Lagos East Senatorial district and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Industries gave us reasons to be very proud of you as our ambassador.

On behalf of myself , members , management and all the staff of Lagos House of Assembly , we expressed our heart condolences to your immediate and extended family. We pray that the Almighty Allah will grant you aljanah firdaus and the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
