Senator Gbenga Daniel has unveiled plans to revive a major livestock farm in Ikenne Remo, Ogun State, with the potential to create about 10,000 jobs and boost the local economy.

Daniel, who represents Ogun East Senatorial District, made the disclosure during the continuation of the BATOGD Movement Midterm Community Assessment and Review Tour held at Ilisan Remo in Ikenne Local Government Area.

The former governor of Ogun State said the livestock project, which was conceptualised towards the end of his administration, had been designed as a full agricultural value chain involving meat production and leather processing. He recalled that a company from Zambia had been engaged to run the farm, but the plan stalled after the state could not access the proposed N100 billion bond meant to fund key agricultural enterprises.

According to him, reviving the farm would not only stimulate agribusiness in Ogun but also provide massive employment for young people. He also spoke about the Federal Government’s Strategic Grain Reserve in Ikenne, which he inspected recently, assuring that efforts were ongoing to ensure that the multi-billion-naira facility serves the people rather than stand as a monument.

Daniel explained that the midterm assessment tour was aimed at reviewing the impact of his representation so far, listing some of his constituency projects to include a solar-powered motorised borehole in Ogere, solar streetlights in Ilishan, and an ongoing ultra-modern skills acquisition centre in Ilisan Remo.

Commending Governor Dapo Abiodun for actualising the Gateway International Airport project he initiated in 2005, Daniel described development as a relay race rather than a contest between leaders. He said real leadership lies in continuity, not rivalry.

“Standing here in Ilisan, it warms my heart to see that the Gateway International Airport in Remo, an idea we conceptualised and started years ago, has now become a world-class facility under Governor Dapo Abiodun,” the Senator said, adding “Development is not a competition; it is a relay race. When one governor passes the baton, another must run with it.”

On national politics, Daniel urged residents of Ikenne and Ogun East to support President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition, describing his administration’s reforms — including fuel subsidy removal, naira float, student loans, and infrastructural projects — as bold steps towards national prosperity. He called on the southwest to stand firmly behind the president for a landslide victory in 2027.

The senator also restated his commitment to the creation of Ijebu-Remo State, saying his continued representation at the Senate till 2031 would be crucial to achieving the long-standing demand.

“The BATOGD Movement is about extending the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu to our grassroots,” Daniel said. “Renewed Hope is not a mere slogan; it must wear overalls and go to work. Hope is not what you promise people; it is what you make happen for them.”

Community leaders, including the Chairman of Ilisan Development Association, Otunba Wemmy Osude, commended Daniel for his enduring commitment to the people and his foresight in initiating projects that have continued to shape the state’s development trajectory.
