Customs Arraigns Suspected Smugglers

The Nigeria Customs Service Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘A’ has arraigned 3 suspects in Federal High Court, Abeokuta.

Ismail Shuaibu, Jimoh Yakubu, and Abdullahi Muazu were arraigned on a two-count charge. Ismail and Jimoh were arraigned for forgery and conspiracy of Nigeria Customs Service Port and Terminal Multi-Services Limited Provisional Valuation Assessment Form and other Nigeria Customs documents while

Abdullahi was arraigned for the illegal importation of a Toyota Rav 4 and bags of foreign parboiled rice, as well as the illegal possession of same.

Counsel to the Nigeria Customs Service Zone ‘A’, Vivian Aigbadon expressed satisfaction over the hearing at the court, saying, the arraignment of the suspects is to serve as a deterrent to others who are still in the business of smuggling and illegal importation.

She said “They were arraigned and remanded in the correctional center pending the hearing of their bail application.

“If you are arrested, you will be charged to court and we will prosecute you accordingly,” she concluded.
