Civil Organisations Pressure Metropolitan Police To Declare Senator Dariye Wanted Over Money Laundering Crime
If Senator representing Plateau Central, Joshua Dariye thinks his past is gone and forgotten- then he is yet to feel the effect of renewed efforts into that part of his life.
Sources just confirmed to societynowng.com that- a coalition of Civil Liberty organisations operating under the emblem R.M.G are currently pressuring the Metropolitan Police to bring him to justice for past crime.
The former Governor of Plateau state jumped bail in London in 2004, in the wake of arrest for money laundering offence.
He was arrested in his hotel room in London with a £93,000 cash.
He was governor of his State at the time of the incident.
After jumping bail- he had illegally and clandestinely found his way back to Nigeria- and retained his seat.
He is yet to return to London to clear his name- and is today a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
His new status and distance in time of the development has created the impression in the minds of many that- the matter is done away with.
Recent information made available to societynowng.com revealed- this is far from the correct situation of things.
Interacting with the Metropolitan Police via correspondence number ‘ Freedom of Information Request Reference No: 2012060002368’- the group of whistle blowers on corrupt public officials learnt that Dariye ‘ is still wanted In the U.K’
The revelation specifically stated he never returned to that part of the world after jumping bail and the money found on him ‘forfeited’.
According to the information, the £93,000 found on him is said to be awaiting repatriation back to Nigeria- pending conclusion of the case.
The coalition of civil liberty organisations are said to have petition the British Police to involve the Interpol in the case- with intent to effect the arrest and repatriation of Senator Dariye to the U.K and conclusion of the case.
Informants claim the interest of the group lies in securing justice as transpired in the case of Mr James Ibori, the former governor of Delta State in London jail along with his wife, lawyer, sister and mistress for corrupt enrichment.
And also the fate of the £93,000 hanging in the balance.
Sources confirmed that there are strong indications that- a decisive action on the case is in the offing very soon.
The group pushing for this development is reportedly made up of about 41 civil liberty organisations.
