Abdul Samad Rabiu, founder and Chairman of BUA Group, has paid glowing tribute to former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, who passed away on Sunday in London.

In a heartfelt message, Rabiu described Buhari as “a leader who embodied duty, discipline, and devotion to our nation.”

Rabiu, whose BUA Group is one of Nigeria’s foremost conglomerates and the largest employer of labour in the North East, said he joined millions of Nigerians in mourning the passing of a leader whose values and convictions left a lasting impression on the country.

“President Buhari was a man of deep convictions and quiet strength. Whether as a soldier, a statesman, or a citizen, he served Nigeria with an unwavering commitment to order, integrity, and the common good,” Rabiu said, and added “In the years I was privileged to engage with him, I saw firsthand a leader who cared deeply about the stability of our nation, the fight against corruption, and the protection of Nigeria’s long-term interests.”

The philanthropist and founder of ASR Africa – the largest charity initiative by an individual in Africa – also commended the late president’s modest lifestyle and dedication to service.

“Beyond his years in office, former President Buhari will be remembered for his humility, his love of simplicity, and the high personal standards he brought to public service. His leadership gave voice to millions who believed in a more transparent, secure, and accountable Nigeria,” he said.

Rabiu offered condolences on behalf of his family and the entire BUA Group to Buhari’s widow, Aisha Buhari, his family, the people of Katsina State, President Bola Tinubu, and the entire nation.

He concluded with prayers for the late president: “May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, reward his sacrifices, and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.”
