Capital Oil Boss, Ifeanyi Uba’s Huge Debt Profile Becomes Opponents Major Campaign Point, As Group Labels His Biznesses ‘Questionable’
…alleged to be broke, aide denies accusation.
Just days to election, the gubernatorial train of popular business man and Labour Party Candidate, Ifeanyi Uba is facing a barrage of accusation and street talks it is facing hard to dwarf. The state of his claim to fame- his businesses.
Opponents and the discerning are passionately mobilising the masses to look beyond what is labelled ‘surface grandeur’ and ‘populist gifts’ to determine what is credible.
Ifeanyi Uba rose to reckoning in the upcoming gubernatorial election based on his ‘humanitarian’ gestures, backed with the image of a ‘successful business man’. The underlying message being that he would replicate the successes of his business in Anambra state once elected. And also put in place a ‘humane’ government.
What opponents are currently playing up is that, he no longer has control over his businesses due to alleged ‘huge debt profile’.
With the electorates being educated on reasons why AMCON took over Capital Oil and it’s asset from the Labour Party candidate, along with the poser ‘how can a man that couldn’t manage his business over see such an intricate entity as a state’
The arguments against Uba are currently stretched to the point of being broke, unable to pay bills and just grandstanding with campaign funds at his disposal, trying to hold out till election day.
According to sensitising of electorates against the Capital Oil boss going on, Mr Uba’s ultimate aim at becoming Governor is to use state’s revenue to revive his ailing business and crumpled empire.
The awareness of these allegations are said to have become so vociferous, and gaining ground by the day among prospective voters that, the Uba campaign group was forced to officially move to quell it.
Mr Ayo Akinola, the Ifeanyi Ubah Campaign Organisation media consultant for the upcoming election reacted to these talks :
‘Nothing could be farther from the truth. You don’t even need to be close to him to see this. He has not defaulted in any payment. Despite the fact that the bills keep coming, he has been doing very well.
We know where this balderdash is coming from. No other place than from the camp of the political jobbers and armchair critics as well as some greedy people who want to reap from where they have not sown. I have it in good knowledge that some people may want to take advantage of his deep generosity to swindle him. But he is too smart for them. Remember that he is a businessman who earns every kobo. He is not spending tax-payers’ money like other leading candidates. So, every kobo counts and must be spent judiciously. If this is what they understand as been broke, then we have no apology to make. They should look elsewhere, probably to the camps of those spending government money to prosecute their election bid.’
But this has not stopped the increasing popularity of the accusations.
A social political group identified as, Oganiru Anambra took the allegations and awareness against Mr Uba further.
The association compiled what it labelled ‘ Five strong and serious reasons, the Labour Party candidate, Ifeanyi Ubah cannot win, let alone governor Anambra State’..and released push it into the streets via statement.
Here is a reproduction of the material signed by a Chimezie Okonkwo, labelled ‘ the leader of the Eastern-based association with offices in Lagos and Abuja, respectively.’.
“Ifeanyi Ubah is a moneybag and not an intellectual
The truth is that politics in Anambra State has gone beyond the inglorious era of moneybags with questionable sources of wealth ‘ruling’ them. Currently, our state, under the able leadership of Governor Peter Obi earnestly yearns for true intellectuals to progressively govern them. We do not want moneybags throwing cash left, right and centre all in the name of inducing and manipulating innocent voters.
‘His fraudulent cases with FG and Coscharis
Either Ubah likes it or not, his well celebrated fraudulent case with Cosmas Maduka, boss of Coscharis Motors, who accused Ubah of defrauding him of several billions of Naira in an oil deal gone sour, is still fresh in the minds of NdiAnambra. We are yet to hear the last from this very ugly show of shame involving a man that wants to govern our state. Also Ubah’s embarrassing arrest and detention for almost two weeks by the Special Fraud Unit (SFU), Ikoyi, Lagos over his involvement in the infamous oil subsidy scam, is not good for the image of the moneybag that wants to govern Anambra. We won’t dwell much on this story because it’s an open secret. The truth is that we at Oganiru Anambra will not allow a man with such a big stain or dent to govern our state. NEVER.
AMCON’s takeover of Capital Oil and Gas
What on earth would make a moneybag that could not manage his own company-Capital Oil and Gas Industries Limited, think or believe he can successfully run and manage the collective wealth of NdiAnambra judiciously and prudently?
Ubah should first go sort himself out with AMCON, FG and Coscharis before dreaming of governing Anambra. It is no longer news that AMCON has taken over the management of Capital Oil and Gas due to Ubah’s backlog of debts owed several Nigerian banks. And this takeover will last for a period of two years. He should think of how to rescue his dwindling fortunes instead of wanting to ‘rule’ Anambra by force.
‘Ubah has no clear or well defined programme and policy
Among the leading contenders jostling for the soul of Anambra ahead of the November 16 governor ship race, controversial Ubah is the only candidate without a clear and straight programme for NdiAnambra. Ubah should know that ‘ruling’ Anambra goes beyond bulldozing and bamboozling his way with cash and other material gifts. Anambra people are wiser and urgently needs a leader with clearly defined programmes and well outlined policies.
Anambra needs a role model as governor and not a controversial man
We at Oganiru Anambra strongly believes that NdiAnambra needs a role model, an intellectual and God fearing person as their governor and not a controversial businessman lacking in the above leadership qualities.
We urgently need a role model with an enviable character and strong pedigree in both educational and public lives, not a fellow with multiple controversies trailing his every move.
Ndi Anambra, November 16 is just by the corner, please shine your eyes and vote wisely. All true sons and daughters of Anambra must make the right choice for a brighter and better Anambra’
Findings by societynowng.com revealed the Capital Oil boss remains undeterred by these ‘antics’. He is said to have refused to be’ distracted’ from achieving his aim, telling those who care to listen ‘ the result of a free and fair election on Saturday, November 16 2013 will determine who the people want.
