Abiola Ajimobi, the governor of Oyo state has kick started a grand plan to protect his political future.

The state head man said to be quietly becoming alienated with leader of his political party and source of power, of his new status – Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has initiated moves to ‘conscript’ the support of powerful individuals within his domain.

And he wants to achieve this by favouring those very much after their heart- their children.

The support of powerful players in the political and social/ economic setting of his state that Mr Ajimobi is said to be very much after are; the Alafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi

Adeyemi, The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Samuel Odulana, the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewunmi and influential Money man and Islamic leader, Aare Arisekola Alao.

The collective support of these personalities virtually assures the political fortunes of any politician.

Governor Ajimobi’s game plan is to make them indirect beneficiaries and partakers of his government by appointing their children Commissioners.

The names of these influential stakeholders children are included in nominated list of commissioners forwarded to the State House of Assemble for ratification in forming a new cabinet.

Amongst the names are Prince Gbade Lana ( Olubadan), Princess Adetutu Adeyemi- Akhigbe ( Alaafin), Faruk Umar Alao ( Arisekola) and (Soun)

Mr Ajimobi dissolved his cabinet about five weeks ago based on political directive from party leader based in Lagos, Asiwaju Tinubu that the he forms a more inclusive government.

This instruction was the offshoot of series of complaints against Ajimobi by political associates and fellow party men of ‘running a one man show’.

Investigations however revealed nominations of names of children of powerful stakeholders in his domain, rather than recommended candidates from party men for the supposed ‘all inclusive government’- appears Ajimobi’s way of taking charge of his political fortune.

He however stuck to a bit of the directive by retaining Dapo, son of late politician Alhaji Lam Adeshina. Though observers alleged the move more of attempting to cash in on the Adeshina political structure to complement the targeted influence of the Alaafin et al.

Some of the other names on the list of nomination sent to the State House of Assemble include …Engineer Deji Akande, Princess Olufunke Owuru, Prof S.0.A Olaniyan, Adewale Olujide, Fatai Atanda, Barrister Adebayo Ojo and Dr Muyiwa Gbadegesin.

Keen followers of events are however of the opinion that, ‘how well this ploy works out remain to be seen’.
