A two-year-old girl became the unexpected highlight of Senator Gbenga Daniel’s Midterm Community Assessment and Review Tour in Ikenne Local Government Area after she insisted on holding the APC flag to salute the former governor of Ogun State.

The incident, which drew applause from attendees, occurred during the BATOGD Movement’s ongoing review tour across Ogun East Senatorial District.

The organisers said the child’s mother, a devoted party member, attended the event despite reported instructions from some ward and local government executives allegedly discouraging members from participating in activities linked to Senator Daniel and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to eyewitnesses, the little girl held tightly to the party flag throughout the event and waved enthusiastically each time Senator Daniel passed by.

“She refused to drop it,” one organiser said, adding “It was as if she understood the message of loyalty and hope that the tour represents.”

The mother of the child was quoted as saying she had no regrets attending the event despite alleged internal pressures. She described Senator Daniel as “a good humanitarian who loves mothers and children,” praising his support for women’s healthcare and scholarships for young people across the senatorial district.

The Ikenne stop formed part of the senator’s ongoing midterm assessment tour, which has already been held in Sagamu, Ijebu North East, and Ijebu East.

The initiative is designed to engage communities, review completed and ongoing projects, and gather feedback from constituents.

Participants at the Ikenne event commended Senator Daniel’s efforts in education, healthcare, and youth empowerment, noting that his leadership style has continued to bridge gaps between government and the grassroots.

By the close of the event, the atmosphere was festive, with songs and cheers from party members. For many, however, the lasting image was that of the young girl waving the APC flag — a quiet but powerful symbol of faith in leadership and the enduring bond between the people and their representative.
