Insiders insist embattled Governor Ibikunle Oyelaja Amosun and All Progressives Congress gubernatorial candidate in Ogun state are engaged in a truce process.

Amosun fought hard to prevent Abiodun from emerging the governorship candidate of the APC in his state.

But Abiodun, the front person at Heyden oil, outwitted the Governor based on intense backing from influential political and non-political players in and out of Ogun state.

After the Heyden boss, Amosun’s attempt to forcefully retrieve the gubernatorial ticket from Abiodun and give it to preferred choice, Adekunle Akinlade set off a chain of reactions that hugely decimated the power and influence of the governor within and outside his party.

One of the major consequence for Amosun is the taking away party tickets to elective positions for the 2019 general election from his loyalists.

The latest round of loss suffered by Amosun in his fight against Abiodun saw the governor’s loyalists yanked off the recently released list of the party’s State House of Assembly candidates in Ogun state.

Insiders disclosed to societynow.ng that after suffering multiple loses which has hugely diminished his influence – and faced with the realization that the party is resolute not to give his preferred choice the gubernatorial ticket -, Governor Amosun has softened his stance and currently negotiating a way out of his political dilemma.

Societynow.ng, however, gathered the governor is not necessarily negotiating from a position of weakness.

According to a source, “the truth is that the party needs Amosun to win an election, especially the gubernatorial election in Ogun state. Abiodun and his band of followers can’t deliver the state for APC, they don’t have the clout and structure to do that”.

Insiders disclosed to societynow.ng that it is from this position of weakened strength that Amosun is currently negotiating to salvage his bruised ego.

“The two camps are currently in the process of brokering a truce for mutual benefits” societynow.ng learned.
