Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun has dared all aggrieved aspirants to come to test their popularity against his consensus candidates in a shadow election.

Amosun who is the state leader of the All Progressives Congress had orchestrated the emergence of consensus candidates for the coming general elections.

The development had ruffled a lot of feathers, especial amongst the gubernatorial aspirants.

Informants disclosed abuse heaped on the Governor by party men from his primary constituency mirrors how unpopular the emergence of consensus candidates is within the APC in Ogun state.

The Governor has now softened his stance and urged aggrieved aspirants to prepare for a shadow election which will determine how popular they are, against his adopted candidates.

“After all the outcry, the governor has told the aggrieved people that the emergence of consensus candidates does not foreclose holding a primary election, that anybody who feels he can better his chosen candidates should go ahead and purchase nomination forms in preparation for the shadow election” a source stated.
