Ambode Stays Put In London, Refuses To Appear Before Lagos Assembly Over Questionable Contracts

Former Governor of Lagos state Akinwunmi Ambode refused to appear before the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee looking into questionable actions he took when he office yesterday (October 15, 2019).

Ambode is accused of bypassing constitutional procedures in his huge purchases and award of mega contracts.

The immediate past governor was invited to come clear airs on purchases which include the acquisition of 820 buses his administration’s mass transit program and contracts that involve The Imota rice mill, Light-Up Lagos project, and procurement of LASEMA Rapid Response equipment and engagement of the consultants.

Ambode for the second term snubbed the invitation.

He stayed put in London, where he traveled to immediately he left office societynow.ng learned.

Societynow.ng gathered that Akinyemi Ashade, the commissioner for Finance in Ambode’s administration and Oladejo Seye, who was in charge of Special Duties also failed to appear before the Lagos House of Assembly ‘’probe panel’’.

They wrote that they are out of the country societynow.ng learned.

Insiders disclosed Ashade and Seye are part of five individuals informally labeled the ‘’powerful fist of Ambode’’ when the former governor was in power.
