After Forcing A 24hr Shift To Get His Candidate Mudasiru Hussein Back Into The Contest, Gov Rauf Aregbesola Prepares For Major Battle To Determine Osun West Senatorial Party Candidate With Demola Adeleke As Main Contender

Officially, Mudasiru Hussein – the favoured Candidate of Governor Rauf Aregbesola is back in the race to determine All Progressives Congress candidate for Osun West Senatorial district.

The seat was formerly occupied by deceased Senator and APC chieftain Isiaka Adeleke.

His death created a vacuum that needed to be filled within specified period according to electoral rules.

Hussein, the anointed candidate of Governor Aregbesola was initially disqualified for not resigning position Osun state commissioner – as stipulated by party guidelines – before contesting for the Osun West Senatorial ticket.

The disqualification transformed Demola, younger brother of Isiaka Adeleke the aspirant to emerge unopposed.

This development was after Demola had been dumped out and Hussein positioned as party candidate awaiting official ratification via a mock shadow election.

But the disqualification of Hussein turned the table 24hours before the election.

Sources claim forces beyond Governor Aregbesola from out of the state mustered influences at the National level of the party to outplay his candidate.

But the Osun state helmsman refused to let go and fought back hard, forcing a 24hrs shift in the Shadow election to get his candidate re admitted into the contest.

Sources claim the grand finale of the battle of influences and wits is scheduled for this morning as the primary election to determine party candidate holds at the APC Osun West Senatorial Headquarters (Iwo) in Osun state.

Sources confirmed it is a clear fight between Mudasiru Hussein and Demola Adeleke.

But insiders claim it goes beyond that.

“It is actually a test of how strong Aregbesola within his party in Osun state…whether he has the influence to have his way or not within his party, in matters that concern his state” an insider analysed.
