Afraid Of His Shadow? …Real Reason Ex Gov Ambode Will Not Honor Invitation By Lagos Assembly Probe Panel

‘’There is no way Amode will honor the invitation by the Lagos state House of Assembly in the nearest future’’ a source asserted.
Akinwunmi Ambode, the immediate past governor of Lagos state has been invited twice by a probe panel set up by Lagos State House of Assembly looking into corruption-riddled infractions committed by his administration and twice Ambode has refused to appear.
‘’He won’t appear’’ an insider asserted.
Societynow.ng gathered this assertion, echoed by multiple sources, is premised on two grounds.
The caustic relationship between Ambode and the Lagos State House of Assembly – incidentally headed by the same Speaker Mudashiru Obasa – when he was Governor and his present face-off with the anti-corruption agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The EFCC went after Ambode on allegations of corruption immediately he left office.
The agency’s seriousness on laying hands on the former governor was apparent when it secured a search warrant but ended up with an ill-fated raid of the residence of the former governor – and his assistant – in Epe.
This was after Ambode – who scampered out town immediately his turbulent single term ended -refused to honor invitations by the agency.
The agency is still laying in wait for Ambode.
It is against this background that the Lagos Assembly probe panel issued an invitation for him to appear.
‘’The ploy is obvious, the Lagos Assembly without the power of arrest wants to lure Ambode into the EFCC trap’’ the former governor’s sympathizers claim.
The checks by societynow.ng revealed that Ambode has opted for the less option of getting muddied with speculations over refusal to honor the invitation by the EFCC and Lagos state House of Assembly than walk into serious damage by getting self arrested and slammed into detention.
‘’Ambode stands a better chance of finding solutions to his troubles by negotiating far and away from the reach of those out to get him’’ is the line of thinking guiding the actions of the former governor societynow.ng confirmed.
Societynow.ng learned that for Ambode and his people avoiding arrest and detention, by all means, is very crucial to determining his future – in and out of politics.
