Lauretta Onochie, 62, has created a major problem in a bid to secure a national appointment.

Onochie a media aide and one of the most visible hardcore supporters of President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) disowned the ruling party during her screening as a nominee for the position of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Commissioner.

She claimed to have withdrawn from the party and active politics since 2019.

The claim further fuels opposition against Onoche whose nomination flouts constitutional provisions.

The constitution forbids anybody with a political affiliation to occupy the position she has been nominated for – not to talk of a member and rabid supporter of the party in power.

Since her denial of membership of the ruling party, document and pieces of evidence that contradict the nominee’s claim have surfaced on social media – including an affidavit she reportedly sworn to on June 30, 2021 – well after she claimed to have severed ties with the ruling party and active politics.

The affidavit according to a report monitored by societynow.ng on the dailypost,ng reads in part “That I am an educationist having served as Headmistress of Auntie Margaret International School, Calabar. I have also served as a lecturer at the Epping Forest College, Essex, United Kingdom.

“That I am also engaged in active politics and a member of the Neighborhood Watch and has also contested the Local Government elections under the Conservative party in the United Kingdom.

“I am also a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress and a volunteer at Buhari Support Organization.”

This development continues to attract massive criticisms in the face in the face of other contradicting posts been thrown as talks center on far the nominee is willing to go to secure an appointment.

Societynow.ng gathered the situation is unraveling into a major problem for the nominee and senate as public interest over the possible outcome grows.
