Society journalist, Mr. Tayo Mafe, has revealed his ambition to contest the forthcoming local government election in his state, Ogun.

The journalist turned businessman is set to contest the Ijebu East Local Council Chairmanship seat under the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN.

Mafe who see this latest venture as ‘a new target for myself’, is convinced that his wide ranging experience and contacts within and outside his party and his council puts him head and shoulders above other candidates and in good stead to lead the council to an enviable position among local council areas in Nigeria.

The aspirant whose major mission is to impact positively on the lives of the people of his local government intends to make education and provision of both social and physical infrastructure his major campaign and governance thrust.

He believes that the grassroot is the best place to make appreciable impact on the lives of his people.

According to him ‘ the grass root is the bedrock of the society and with a good foundation based on good governance, the society will certainly be a better place for all to live in.’

He further revealed that he decided to embrace politics and elective post based on the conviction that ‘as a journalist and society watch dog, I have done quite a bit of criticism; but as the saying goes, if you want to correct something and you are serious about it, you get it done yourself- that is why I am aspiring for the Ijebu East Local Government chairmanship position.’ ‘We shall remake Ijebu East. As a border Council and one on a very busy Sagamu-Benin expressway, we shall tap on our human and natural resources to aggressively develop the council. My theme for this campaign ‘all hands on deck’, best captures my believe that its only by galvanising the people that we can run a world-class government’, Mafe declared.
Mafe appealed to men and women, young and old of his party to join hands with him and close ranks in order to deliver the party’s chairman.
