2027: Aiyedatiwa Clears Air On Trending Claims Of Alleged Anti-Party

Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has dismissed claims that he is engaging in anti-party activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the narrative as false and a calculated attempt to create unnecessary controversy within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The clarification followed the circulation of photographs showing the governor with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Ondo Central Senatorial District, Senator Ayo Akinyelure, at the Government House Chapel on Sunday.

In a statement issued on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the governor said the reports were “false, misleading, and a clear attempt to manufacture controversy where none exists.”

He explained that the Government House Chapel is a public place of worship open to all citizens, religious leaders and public officials, stressing that it is “not an APC-only facility.”

According to the statement, Akinyelure attended the chapel to worship and also used the opportunity to thank the governor for sending a representative and goodwill message during his 70th birthday celebration last week.

“It was a normal act of courtesy, decorum, and respect that transcends party lines,” the statement said.

The governor’s spokesman also noted that Senator Ayo Akinyelure is the younger brother of Chief Pius Akinyelure, an APC leader, ally of President Bola Tinubu and Chairman of the Governor’s Advisory Council in Ondo State.

Reaffirming the governor’s political loyalty, Adeniyan said, “Governor Aiyedatiwa remains committed to the APC and all its candidates. The Governor will work with all party structures to ensure that APC wins all elections in Ondo State.”

He urged APC members and the public to ignore what he described as the antics of “mischief-makers” seeking to sow discord within the ruling party.

“The Governor remains focused. The APC remains strong. And Ondo State will continue to progress,” the statement added.
