Ex SSG Umana Umana Begins Groundswell Guber Campaign Against Gov Akpabio And His Anointed Candidate

Politician with mass local appeal and former Secretary to the Akwa Ibom state Government, Obong Umana Okon Umana has kick started what is labelled active politicking towards achieving his gubernatorial ambition.

And this is in direct defiance to directive from state Governor Godswill Akpabio who is said to have an anointed candidate of his own.

Umana was forced out of office by Akpabio for openly declaring to succeed him (Akpabio).

The Gov tagged the move a direct challenge Umana Okon Umana to his authority and booted Umana out of office.

The sack was later commuted to resignation after intervention of stakeholders and shrouded agreements reached.

Strangely prior to this development, both Akpabio and Umana were good friends- with the latter credited with ‘greatly contributing’ to the process that caterpaulted Akpabio to power.

Informants claim Akpabio’s refusal to stick to agreements that ensured Umana’s support by back then the root cause of their estrangement.

More strange is the fact that Akpabio’s anointed candidate is the new SSG and immediate replacement for forced out Umana.

Findings revealed the former SSG decided to take his fate in his hand his resumption of active politicking.
Insiders disclosed he has fully rejigged his campaign machinery and alongside his loyalists and supporters is making overtures to influential stakeholders across the state.

“He is scheduled to meet with special party delegates in the weeks ahead to in order to solicit their support and loyalty”, another disclosed.

The effect of these moves are generally rated ‘groundswell against Gov Akpabio and his anointed candidate’ by observers.

Further digs revealed Umana is so passionate about his ambition that he has confided in friends and boost supporters moral with the assertion, he would use the opportunity to prove widespread image of “man with the plan” by beating Akpabio and his anointed candidate in the 2015 Akwa Ibom guber election.

And sources claim from the look of things, he appears to be piling up support by the day. However how well this will help him to achieve his ambition against the governor remain to be seen.
