BUA Group has warned businesses and prospective suppliers against fraudulent vendor registration requests circulated by an individual allegedly claiming to represent BUA Refinery, cautioning the public against sharing sensitive information with unauthorised persons.

In a disclaimer, the group said it had been alerted to emails requesting vendor registration, accompanied by attachments and circulated using the address [email protected], purportedly on behalf of BUA Refinery.

The group clarified that neither BUA Refinery nor the wider organisation had authorised any individual, agent, agency or organisation to conduct vendor registration on its behalf.

“We hereby state that BUA Refinery (a subsidiary of BUA Group) has at no time mandated or designated any individual, agent, agency, or organisation to conduct vendor registration on its behalf and does not intend to do so,” the management stated.

BUA Group advised businesses and members of the public to exercise caution when responding to unsolicited procurement-related communications, particularly requests seeking information under the guise of vendor registration.

“The general public is hereby advised to be very cautious and not provide any details to any individual or agency claiming to be acting on BUA’s behalf,” the notice stated.

The group also urged the public to report suspicious links, emails, telephone numbers and individuals claiming to represent BUA Group or any of its subsidiaries to relevant security agencies for investigation and appropriate action.

It directed members of the public seeking information about its activities to consult its verified social media platforms and official websites, including buagroup.com, buacement.com, buafoodsplc.com and buagypsumplaster.com.

The warning highlights the risks businesses face from fraudulent communications that exploit the identities of established companies to solicit information from prospective suppliers.

For businesses pursuing procurement opportunities, the notice reinforces the importance of verifying the authenticity of vendor registration requests through official corporate channels before submitting documents or disclosing sensitive information.
