Ondo: Customs strengthens Collabo With ICPC, NPERA, NDLEA
embarked on a series of familiarisation visits to key government institutions
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ondo/Ekiti Area Command, has intensified efforts to strengthen collaboration with sister agencies as Acting Customs Area Controller (CAC), Deputy Comptroller of Customs (DC), Patience Ita, embarked on a series of familiarisation visits to key government institutions in Ondo State.
The visits, in line with the Customs management’s drive for stronger inter-agency collaboration, saw DC Ita engage key stakeholders in Akure on issues of mutual interest and national development.
During a visit to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the Acting CAC met with the Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner, Tiku Menge, to discuss ways to enhance collaboration, information sharing, and joint efforts to strengthen transparency and accountability in public administration.
Both agencies also explored opportunities for deeper cooperation to promote anti-corruption standards and improve institutional effectiveness in discharging their mandates.
DC Ita also visited the Area Officer of the Nigeria Port Economic Regulatory Agency (NPERA), formerly known as the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Mojisola Adeniji, where they discussed strengthening operational cooperation and advancing trade facilitation in the region.
The engagement highlighted the need for streamlined regulatory processes and stronger partnerships to support legitimate trade, improve service delivery and stimulate economic growth across Ondo and Ekiti states.
The familiarisation visits followed a courtesy call received by the Acting CAC on 2 September 2026 from the newly posted Ondo State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Adeyemo Folayemi. During the meeting, both agencies reaffirmed their commitment to combating illicit trafficking, enhancing border security and protecting public health and safety.
The heads of the various agencies commended Comptroller Ita’s leadership initiative. They pledged sustained collaboration with the NCS, reaffirming their shared commitment to effective service delivery and achieving national objectives.
