Details of how former Senate President Ibrahim Mantu died have emerged.

Mantu who was elected Deputy Senate President in 2001 and held the position until 2007 when he failed to return to the Senate breathed his last early morning today, Tuesday, August 17, 2021.

The former Senator representing Plateau Central Senatorial district on the bill of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) breathed his last at about 2.a.m.

“He fell ill about nine days ago and was receiving treatment at home but he was rushed to the hospital when there was no sign of improvement,” a family source told Daily Trust Newspaper.

The influential politician who died at the private hospital was reportedly kept confined during his battle in the face of fears of infection in case he was battling Covid-19.
