5 Offers Rejected From Abiodun As Ogun Workers Insist On Indefinite Strike

Leaders of organized labour in Ogun state have provided insight into negotiations with Governor Dapo Abiodun and his team.

The organized labour in Ogun state started indefinite strike action on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 after a seven days ultimatum.

After the workers rejected negotiation through proxies, Governor Abiodun led the team that met with the leaders of organized labor on Wednesday, June 29, 2022.

With no resolution made, the leaders of the workers that met with the Governor and his team detailed insight into the negotiation with the government in a circulated message that reads…

Tit bit of offer by the Government.

It was totally rejected by the labour union.

Only six members were allowed into the venue of the meeting.
NLC chairman, secretary,TUC chairman and Secretary and JNC chairman and Secretary.

  1. On Contributing pension scheme*

Labour, total stoppage….. Government said they will set up a committe to review it to be headed by Head of service. Labour rejected the offer.

2 On leave allowance for 8 yrs ..*

Government directed the commissioner for finance to fashion out a way of paying every month along with our salary…another scam

Labour rejected it, demand for immediate payment of Outstanding years.

3 On 21months co operatives deductions.

Government offers 1.5bn out 68.3bn owed,this will only take care of 3months

Labour rejected it want at least 15months payment.

4 Other demand like gross salary is yet to, be looked into when commissioner for finance bring out a prepared MOU for the labour to sign and call off the strike

5, and they should address the press.

Labour refused to signed and also didn’t agree to address any press conference,it was at this point that they withheld labour leaders inside and didn’t allow them to go outside until those waiting outside started singing and the noise got inside and they were eventually released.

The STRIKE CONTINUE INDEFINITELY

Among other things the Ogun state workers are demanding remittance of 21 months salary deduction, a halt to breach of contributory pension scheme, payment of 8years statutory leave allowances, return to payment of gross salary module, giving promotion exercise priority, and implementation of the adjustment on minimum pension.
