The rain of corruption allegations ruining the world of Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa appeared to have stopped.

The speaker has been given a new lease of life to make things right with his adversaries.

Societynow.ng learned powerful politician Bola Tinubu bailed out Obasa from the storm to prevent bigger damage.

“The corruption allegations against Obasa was rubbing off wrongly on the state, causing distractions for the new Governor (Babajide Sanwo-Olu) and tainting the image of the party (All Progressives Congress), so Tinubu called Obasa and his adversaries to a peace meeting and told them to bury the hatchet and find a way to accommodate themselves to enable the state focus on more developmental initiatives” societynow.ng learned.

The arrowheads of the oppositions against Obasa are members of the Lagos State House of Assembly that he schemed out of relevance in the affairs of the legislative body.

Sources disclosed that as part of efforts to ensure the fire of the messy affair was put out, the state chairman of the APC in Lagos state, Babatunde Balogun was put in charge of a “small committee” to midwife the reconciliation and ensure all “grievances put to bed.”

Insiders disclosed that the documents fueling corruption allegations against Obasa in the media have stopped “getting leaked” while he contends with the ongoing investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to a source “It is clear that the other side has kept word by halting the release of embarrassing documents against Obasa, so all eyes are now on him to see how he reciprocates.”

Obasa has dissolved all committees in the House of Assembly and the expectations are rife over his next move.

Some believe that the speaker will use the opportunity to strengthen his hold on the Assembly by appointing key loyalists to the positions of power while others feel he would seize the chance to return aggrieved members to positions of influence to cement the stoppage of embarrassing disclosures about him.

“But the truth is that with Obasa you never know, that is why all eyes are on him” societynow.ng learned.
