The Ogun State government says it is fast-tracking the prosecution of Ademola Abiodun, popularly known as DJ Chicken, following a string of road incidents that have raised public concern about his continued presence behind the wheel.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Justice, the government said the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade, SAN, has directed officials to expedite action on the pending case stemming from a November 1 crash in Sagamu.

On that day, Abiodun rammed into two motorcycles, leaving a rider and a female passenger seriously injured. According to the government, he attempted to flee the scene and showed no remorse, provoking anger from bystanders who assaulted him before police intervened.

The police had begun an investigation while prioritising the medical care and privacy of the victims.

The state said Abiodun has since been involved in two other incidents, the latest occurring on November 23 in Lekki, Lagos State.

That lone-car crash nearly hit pedestrians, who escaped only because of their quick reactions.

The government noted that at least two of the crashes were captured on video, describing Abiodun as a “special danger to society” whose continued reckless driving poses a risk to the public.

With what it described as an “organic outcry” against his actions and his return to the wheel just weeks after the Sagamu incident, the Attorney-General has ordered that the Sagamu case be promptly taken before a court. The ministry added that it is working closely with the police to bring the matter to a swift conclusion.
