The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Heineken Lokpobiri has revealed what President Bola Tinubu told all his appointees to do to prevent violence in the ongoing nationwide protest.

According to the Minister, the President directed all his appointees to join forces with their state governors to ensure that the protest does not get violent.

Tinubu gave the directive during Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Monday, July 29, 2024 ahead of the 10-day nationwide protest that begins today, August 1, 2024.

Lokpobri made the disclosure in a meeting with Bayelsa Governor Duoye Diri, in line with the President’s directive. on Wednesday, July, 31, 2024.

While Lokpobri is a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Diri is the leader of rival Peopleś Democratic Party (PDP) – signaling that the president’s move all about unity and nation building.

Themed “endbadgovernance” , the protest is against highlighted ills regarding how the government is being run that have resulted in high cost of living.

The directive that all his appointees join forced with their state governors is one of the several initiatives by President Tinubu to keep faith with the protesters in safeguarding the their rights to “peaceful ‘protest while ensuring there is no break down of law and order.
