Kwara Constructs, Renovates 13 Public Schools Out Of 39 Approved Statewide
part of Governor AbdulRazaq’s ongoing school improvement policy
In another landmark development, the Kwara State Government under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has commenced the construction and renovation of 13 public schools in Kwara South Senatorial District.
The projects form the first batch of a wider and ambitious school construction and renovation programme aimed at revitalising public education across the state. The initiative underscores the administration’s unwavering commitment to improving the quality of education and providing conducive learning environments for students.
The commencement of the projects aligns with the government’s strategic plan to comprehensively revamp the education sector through modern infrastructure and improved facilities across the state’s 16 local government areas.
This renovation exercise is part of Governor AbdulRazaq’s ongoing school improvement policy, which focuses on rehabilitating dilapidated school structures and expanding access to quality education statewide.
Funded through approved government allocations, the projects involve large-scale refurbishment of schools, construction of new classrooms to replace deteriorated buildings, development of science laboratories, and construction of examination halls.
Notably, all 13 public schools earmarked for Kwara South Senatorial District in this first batch—out of a total of 39 schools approved statewide—are currently undergoing construction or renovation works.
Many of the affected schools have suffered years of neglect, and the ongoing interventions are expected to restore them to functional learning centres and breathe new life into the communities they serve.
The beneficiary schools in the first batch include: Senior Secondary Comprehensive College, Isanlu-Isin (construction of a laboratory); Surajudeen College, Erin-Ile, Oyun LGA (renovation of classroom blocks); Government Secondary School, Ipe, Oyun LGA (construction of a two-room laboratory); and Nawair-Ud-Deen Grammar School, Offa (renovation of classrooms).
Others are Moremi High School, Offa (renovation of classrooms with offices); Iloffa Grammar School, Oke-Ero LGA (construction of a two-room laboratory); and Government Secondary School, Idofian (construction of a two-room laboratory).
Also benefiting from the exercise are Community Comprehensive High School, Obo-Ile, Ekiti LGA (renovation of classrooms with offices); Community Secondary School, Etan, Ekiti LGA (renovation of classrooms); and Community Senior Secondary School, Ikerin (renovation of classroom blocks).
Additionally, Idofian Grammar School, Idofian, Ifelodun LGA will benefit from the renovation of its school hall, while Iketa Grammar School, Osi will have its examination hall renovated. Muslim High School, Oro, Irepodun LGA will also benefit from the renovation of its classrooms and offices.
The first phase of the intervention is part of the administration’s broader education renewal agenda, aimed at tackling overcrowding, improving access to education, and enhancing learning outcomes for the growing student population in Kwara South.
