Emerging details have it that Olatunde Oladipo Adebutu the gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 election has made a major move to secure his chances.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that the 60year old better known as Lado or Ladi Adebutu has taken strategic steps to play to reap from the power tussle rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun state.

Re-election-seeking Governor Dapo Abiodun’s struggle to retain a strong hold on the party in Ogun state has created an uneasy relationship with leaders that helped him to power.

Governor Abiodun

The Governor is said to be emboldened by the feat of sideling the powerful faction led by the immediate past Governor Ibikunle Amosun and others in the affairs of the party.

The feat enabled the loyalists of Abiodun to become the candidates of the APC in Ogun state for all but one or two elective positions for the 2023 election.

This development boosted resentments and simmering anger of APC members – in other camps that came together to enthrone the Governor – over appointments that have dogged the Abiodun administration since it kicked off.

Information revealed that the former House of Representatives member from Remo Federal constituency has adopted the political play that brought Abiodun to power with a slight tweak.

“Lado (Ladi) is working on putting together an alliance to help him become the next governor of Ogun state, it was the same play that brought Abiodun to power but Ladi’s game plan is slightly different. He is doing a bottom-up approach by aggressively working on followers across different party structures, especially the APC to get groundswell support in different camps while moderately wooing the leaders ” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

A top-to-bottom approach of Adebutu’s adopted political play brought Abiodun to power in 2019.

Politica leaders across different groups formed an alliance that helped him to overcome intense opposition from Amosu who went as far as planting Adekunle Akinlade, his preferred successor in an opposition party, Allied People’s Movement (APM) in a failed bid to stop Abiodun.

Akinlade

Akinlade rejoined APC after the 2019 election but left to join PDP as Adebutu’s deputy governorship candidate for the 2023 election in the face of accusations Abiodun has sidelined all other political structures in APC to retain a vice grip on the party.

Akinlade is one of those helping Adebutu to implement his bottom-up alliance plan against Abiodun ahead of the 2023 election in Ogun state.
