Vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has accused the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council of directing unnecessary attacks at him, presidential candidate Peter Obi and their party.

Kwankwaso, in a statement, described the alleged attacks as “unnecessary and unhelpful,” urging the ADC campaign team to focus on presenting the competence and credibility of its own candidate to Nigerians.

He said the NDC had consistently presented its credentials and record of achievements to the electorate rather than engaging in what he described as attempts to create mischief against its presidential ticket.

“Rather than focusing on presenting the competence, credibility, and capacity of their own candidate as we have consistently done by placing our credentials and record of achievements before Nigerians, the ADC Presidential Campaign Council appears intent on creating mischief against our party and ticket,” he said.

Kwankwaso alleged that the campaign council was attempting to portray the NDC presidential ticket as working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), while also suggesting that the party could withdraw from the presidential race in favour of the ADC candidate.

He warned that such claims could be used to mislead NDC supporters on the eve of the election.

“Let me state clearly and unequivocally: we will not withdraw our candidature for the ADC or any other party. We remain confident in our capacity, competence, and readiness to lead Nigeria,” he declared.

The former Kano State governor also challenged the ADC-PCC to address allegations reportedly levelled against its candidate by Vice-President Kashim Shettima rather than directing its attention at the NDC leadership.

“The ADC-PCC would be better served directing its energy toward rebutting the serious allegations levelled against their candidate by the Vice President, His Excellency Kashim Shettima, instead of targeting me and His Excellency Peter Obi,” Kwankwaso asserted.

He dismissed suggestions that the NDC ticket was working on behalf of the APC, insisting there was no reason for the party to abandon its presidential ambition.

Kwankwaso maintained that the NDC offered Nigerians a credible alternative, arguing that neither the APC-led government nor the ADC presented a better option.

He said the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket was committed to national unity and addressing challenges in security, education, agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare and the economy.

He urged NDC supporters and other Nigerians to continue working towards the party’s victory.
