Gbenga Daniel’s Presence At National Caucus Meeting Confirms Standing In APC
further dispelled claims that he was suspended
The appearance of Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Caucus meeting held on December 18, 2025, has further dispelled claims that he was suspended from the party in Ogun State.
Daniel was seen at the meeting in Aso Rock Villa alongside top APC leaders, including President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, governors, senators, and other party stakeholders.
Photos from the event showed the Ogun East senator participating freely in the gathering, a development that contradicts earlier reports that he had been expelled or suspended from the party.
For months, some party officials in Ogun State had claimed that Senator Daniel was suspended by his ward over alleged anti-party activities.

The state chapter of the APC – populated by Governor Dapo Abiodun’s loyalists – also announced disciplinary measures against him, a move that sparked sharp disagreements within the party and drew national attention.

Abiodun and Daniel are enmeshed in an intense supremacy tussle.
However, the APC National Working Committee had earlier described Daniel as a bona fide member of the party and reportedly directed the Ogun State chapter to halt actions related to the suspension.
The Senator’s presence at the national caucus meeting has now reinforced that position and raised fresh questions about the validity of the claims made at the state and ward levels.
Daniel, a former governor of Ogun State, has consistently denied the suspension claims and reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC.
His continued engagement with the party’s national leadership is seen by political observers as a sign that the controversy may not have the backing of the party at the national level.
The development is expected to further shape internal dynamics within the APC in Ogun State, especially as attention gradually shifts toward the 2027 general elections with Governor Abiodun said to be eyeing his senatorial seat.
