Despite Public Show Of Bravado, This Is Why Minister Kachikwu’s Men Are Really Afraid!

The turbulence created by the leaked communication by Minister of state for petroleum resources, Ibe Kachikwu indicting the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Maikanti Baru in the award of contracts to the $2billion is far from over.

And interestingly it is the accuser and his men that are currently on edge – and not the accuser.

Societynow checks revealed the fear of Kachikwu and his men stem from the body language of President Muhammadu Buhari and the layers of power circling him.

The interpretation is that Kachikwu by his action has endlessly embarrassed the President and his government.

President Buhari’s administration strongest selling point remains “fight against corruption”, and Kachikwu’s as in insider has strongly “taken a huge shine” off it with his expose.

And to compound his woes, he appeared to have publicly indicted one of the “golden” sons and “member of the inner circle”.

After he suffered the indignity of meeting with aides on the visit to the seat of power to defend his allegations – and the man he accused of corruption and insubordination met with the President -, Kachikwu was tasked with the “face losing” task of explaining his leaked memo as “miscommunication”.

But insiders disclosed, away from the indignity of “cleaning his own mess”, a much larger consequence looms for the minister who appeared to be functioning only in name.

“There is a strong indication he would be relieved of his duties for what is interpreted as serving the ends of those very keen to embarrass the president and his government ahead of the 2019 election” an insider disclosed.

Sources disclosed Kachikwu is currently tagged a mole for the opposition inside Buhari’s government and his leaked letter is being regarded – and treated – no lesser than the public proclamation by Minister Aisha Alhassan (Women Affairs) that she prefers Atiku Abubakar as next president than to help Buhari secure re-election.

But unlike Alhassan, who has a stronger political edge, it appears the consequence of Kachikwu’s action would not be long in coming.

“And his men fear, when it rains on him…it would be in a torrent and his perceived loyalists and backers may be drenched in the out pour of consequence currently delayed by gauge of public opinion” societynow learned.
