Governor Sanwo-Olu and his team deserve great applause in the handling of the threats of Coronavirus in Lagos State – and this is the general position.

But manner the sharing of relief packages for those that are vulnerable in the state during the forced sit-at-home period to prevent the spread of the dreaded disease is a big dent for the Sanwo-Olu and his people – and this is also popular opinion.
The inefficiency that dogs the sharing of the relief materials has thrown up all shades of conspiracy theory.

Many claim sabotage but the jury is still out whether it is a deliberate attempt to embarrass the government or as a result of the greed of the handlers of the exercise.
“Compared to what was approved, what the beneficiaries are getting is appalling and a total embarrassment ” societynow.ng learned.

Multiple sources confirmed that the relief packages are either halved or reduced to an embarrassing state by the time it gets to the beneficiaries.

There are claims that some of the contractors are playing smart by reducing the contents of the packages – to make more profit – and those that given the packages to distribute, after delivery by the contractors, are also stealing from it.

“The end result is that the beneficiaries are at the receiving end, they are getting far below what was earmarked for them and suffering from the stealing” societynow.ng confirmed.

And many aggrieved beneficiaries are protesting in manners that take away major points from the efforts of the Sanwo-Olu administration in tackling the coronavirus.

“The anger of the short-changed beneficiaries as they make protest videos and narratives shades the good work of Sanwo-Olu and his people on other fronts in unflattering colors” societynow.ng gathered.

Insiders disclosed top officials of the state government are in the know of this development but the sharp practice is so widespread that they are finding it hard to correct.
