Coronation Group demonstrated remarkable unity and purpose today as teams from four subsidiaries participated enthusiastically in the Investment Professionals Walk for Sustainability across Lagos and Abuja. Representatives from Coronation Trustees Limited, Coronation Securities Limited, Coronation Asset Management, and Coronation Registrars Limited joined hundreds of financial services professionals for the 7km walk themed “Financial Inclusion for the Excluded.”

The second edition of this significant industry initiative, organised by the Financial Markets Integrity Group, brought together professionals from six leading associations, including CFA Society Nigeria, Funds Managers Association of Nigeria, Association of Securities Dealing Houses of Nigeria, Pension Fund Operators of Nigeria, Association of Issuing Houses of Nigeria, and Institute of Capital Market Registrars.

Yemi Soneye, COO of Coronation Asset Management, emphasised the alignment between the walk’s theme and Coronation’s transformational mission. “Financial inclusion represents the cornerstone of sustainable development across Africa,” said Soneye. “Today’s participation reflects our unwavering commitment to creating prosperity for every segment of society, particularly those historically excluded from formal financial services. When we walk for sustainability, we’re walking towards a future where financial access becomes a fundamental right rather than a privilege.”

The group’s participation exemplified its employee volunteering framework, a comprehensive sustainability agenda encompassing six critical pillars: health, arts, education, social empowerment, sports, and environment. This framework encourages employees to donate skills, time, and resources to create meaningful societal impact whilst reinforcing the company’s role as prosperity partners for Africa.

Mary Adeleye, Head of Client Services and Business Development at Coronation Registrars, shared her personal motivation for participating. “Walking alongside colleagues from across our group whilst championing financial inclusion felt profoundly meaningful,” Adeleye reflected. “As registrars, we witness firsthand how investment access transforms lives. Today’s walk reminded us that our daily work contributes to broader inclusion goals. Every client we serve, every process we streamline, every barrier we remove brings us closer to comprehensive financial participation across Africa.”

The simultaneous walks at Muri Okunola Park in Lagos and Old Parade Ground in Abuja demonstrated the initiative’s growing reach since its successful debut last year, which attracted approximately 400 participants. This year’s expanded format reflects increasing industry recognition of sustainability’s importance within financial services.

Coronation Group’s multi-subsidiary participation showcased the organisation’s integrated approach to social responsibility. From asset management to securities trading, trustee services to registrar operations, each entity contributed unique perspectives whilst maintaining shared commitment to transformational solutions.

The walking initiative aligns perfectly with Coronation’s broader sustainability strategy, which recognises environmental consciousness and social inclusion as complementary objectives rather than competing priorities. By encouraging employee participation across all subsidiaries, the group demonstrates how collective action amplifies individual impact.

Industry observers noted the significance of such collaborative efforts in building stronger relationships whilst advancing shared values. The Financial Markets Integrity Group’s coordination of six professional associations represents unprecedented unity around sustainability themes within Nigeria’s investment sector.
