‘A Disgrace To The Nation & Humanity’ -Archbishop Condemns Nwodo’s Family Squabble Over Burial Site That Resulted In Disappearance Of Ex Gov 1st Son’s Corpse While Dignitaries Wait

Drama that played out on the Friday, November 5 2014 burial date of Ifeanyi, first son of former governor of Enugu state, Chief Jim Nwobodo has forced off the ceremony indefinitely.

Family squabbles over the burial site resulted in disappearance of the corpse as dignitaries, supporters, town men and related sympathisers wait to pay last respect.

Information sourced here and there revealed the cause of the acrimony that forced postponement of the ceremony as long running feud between the elder politician and his first son.

Informants alleged relationship had deteriorated to the extent that the popular politician had at a point decreed his son not to come to his home again – dead or alive.

Insiders revealed the brouhaha that transpired on the burial date of the younger Nwobodo resulted from moves by family members including inheritor the deceased status and authority, Chukwudi to bury the late Ifeanyi within the premises of Chief Nwobodo’s abode.

The place is identified as the Nwobodo’s family house is located at Amechi – Awkunawnaw, Enugu South Local Government Area.

Information to scuttle the plan, Chief Nwobodo had deployed heavy presence of security operatives to man the place – despite the arresting presence of dignitaries from far and near , community and religious leaders that came to commiserate with him.

Sources confirmed even interventions from notable individuals present did have any effect on Chief Nwobodo’s stance – he out rightly refused to allow the burial of his son within his compound.

Some of the dignitaries at the place include the Deputy Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremmadu; former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi: National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Victor Umeh; Senator Chris Ngige; Hon. Fidelia Njeze; and Frank Nweke Jnr.

Sources confirmed it got to height the church authority offered an alternative burial place, but the family refused insisting ‘it’s either Jm Nwobodo’s compound or no other place’.

St. Mathew’s Anglican Church, Amechi-Awkunanaw was supposed to handle the passage ceremony.

The hard posture of the family that matched the steely refusal of Jim Nwobodo to bend to their wish is exemplified in comments credited to his second son and inheritor of late Ifeanyi’s status in the family, Chikwudi that ‘whenever his father agreed that his brother would be buried in the compound, the corpse would be provided.’
