With 6 Months To Leave Office, Obaseki Unveils 30yrs Plan For Edo

The outgoing Governor of Edo state, Governor Godwin Obaseki has unveiled a 30-year development plan for Edo state.

Obaseki who is on his second term as Governor, has barely six months left in office.

The Governor who took office on November 12, 2016, says the 30-year development plan, which includes a Master Plan for state capital – Benin, will be backed by legislation.

Obaseki made the announcement on his social media handle with the narrative that reads ‘We have gone around the state, from Edo North to Edo Central, and today we were in Edo South to seek the support and buy-in of stakeholders from Oredo, Ikpoba-Okha, and Egor local councils in the Edo State Regional Development Plan and the Benin City Master Plan. 

Both plans will span 30 years and will be backed by legislation. They will cover all aspects of the state, including tourism, education, health, environment, and sports, among others, to ensure the prompt development and growth of the state and our people. This is the only way Edo can grow.”

The 66-year-old made the revelation in the face of leading the campaign for his party’s gubernatorial candidate, Asue Ighodalo to succeed him.

Ighodalo is the gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the September 21, 2024 Edo state Gubernatorial election.
