Soludo Leads Strong Push For Nwachukwu To Take Over Ifeanyi Ubah’s Senatorial Seat
to fill the seat left vacant by the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo has stepped up political mobilisation in Anambra South, leading a high-powered rally in Nnewi North and Aguata council areas to drum support for Chief Emmanuel Nwachukwu, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate in the forthcoming senatorial election.
Soludo, accompanied by Deputy Governor Onyekachukwu Ibezim, told a crowd of supporters, community leaders, and party faithful that Nwachukwu was the right choice to fill the seat left vacant by the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.
Ubah, who was elected on the platform of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in 2019, died in June 2025 and was buried in July.
“Nnewi South and Ihiala have never produced a senator for this district. Ukpor and Nnewi South supported the late Ifeanyi Ubah when he was contesting, and now it is time to return that support. Chief Emmanuel Nwachukwu embodies the qualities we need in leadership — deeply rooted in community values and committed to development,” Soludo said.
The governor, who has styled APGA as a “people’s movement”, described Anambra as “APGA land” and urged residents to vote massively for Nwachukwu while ensuring their votes count in what he pledged would be a transparent and credible election.
At both the Nnewi Triangle and Aguata Local Government Headquarters, other speakers — including Commissioner for Industry Christian Udechukwu, Nnewi North Mayor Echezona Azodo, State Assembly member Ikedi Orji, APGA State Chairman Ifeatu Obiokoye, and several community leaders — echoed Soludo’s call for unity. They urged the people to close ranks behind Nwachukwu to secure the seat and advance development in the district.
Nwachukwu, visibly moved by the show of solidarity, thanked the people for their backing and promised to prioritise their needs if elected. A minute’s silence was observed in honour of Ubah, whose death has reshaped the political race in the region.
With influential figures throwing their weight behind him and grassroots mobilisation intensifying, Nwachukwu’s campaign is banking on the twin pillars of unity and progress to clinch victory in the crucial by-election.
