Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has taken a deft political step.

Sources disclosed that he has set in motion a process to unify all structures of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State.
Insiders revealed that the governor, who leaves office in 2027, is making the move under the umbrella of the party structure he controls.

The structure, with Yemi Sanusi as chairman, has issued invitations to APC leaders across different factions to attend a strategic meeting scheduled for Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the state capital in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The meeting, expected to be chaired by Governor Abiodun, is strictly by invitation.
Insiders explained that Abiodun is making the deft political move as part of key efforts to own the reconciliation narrative in Ogun State.

President Bola Tinubu has ordered all chapters of the ruling party to maintain a unified front going into the 2027 elections as part of a broader strategy not only to retain power but also to win more states into the party’s fold.

Tinubu is seeking a second term in office, while Abiodun, who completes his second term as governor in 2027, is eyeing a move to the Senate.

He faces stiff opposition from incumbent Ogun East Senator Gbenga Daniel, who is determined to retain his seat for another term.

Abiodun’s ambition has further exposed cracks within the APC, as Daniel — a former two-term governor who helped him to power in 2019 — has refused to step aside.

The face-off with Daniel adds to ongoing supremacy battles with other political leaders over who emerges as the next governor of Ogun State.

Ibikunle Amosun, a former governor who worked against Abiodun’s election in 2019 and re-election in 2023, is not aligned with the governor’s preferred choice.

Meanwhile, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, who has emerged as a leading gubernatorial aspirant by a wide margin, is said to be charting his own political path.

Other sub-leaders are also pushing conflicting interests that run contrary to the governor’s goals and threaten the unity agenda championed by President Tinubu.

Abiodun’s attempt to unify the party amid pockets of conflict is widely interpreted as a strategic effort to own the peace narrative and remain firmly in control of the political situation.
