Wole Oke, the long-serving member of the House of Representatives, is observing his longest silence since joining the All Progressives Congress (APC), breaking from his routine of taunting political opponents.

Representing Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency, Oke defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC in April 2025.

His defection sparked a wave of daily jabs on his former party members, with social media becoming his favourite platform to project loyalty to his new political base.

For months, Oke thrived on online banter, quickly earning a reputation as a thorn in the side of his former allies. But the drama over Governor Ademola Adeleke’s alleged plan to defect to the APC marked a turning point.

The backlash from within his own base — where some accused him of inflaming the controversy — appears to have forced a retreat.

Since July 28, 2025, when he last posted a video dismissing claims that his long stay in the National Assembly since 2003 — interrupted only between 2011 and 2015 — brought little benefit to his constituency, Oke has refrained from launching fresh attacks.

The silence, now stretching weeks, marks the first time since his defection that the lawmaker has held back from political skirmishes online.

For observers, it is a striking pause in the style that has redefined his political persona.
