Wike Moves To Shut Down Amaechi’s Favourite “Hotel”
Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike has made a drastic move.
He has revoked the certificate of occupancy of one of the hotels minister Rotimi Amaechi lodges when he comes to town.
The Hotel situated in Port Harcourt is identified as Novotel.
Situated on Stadium road, Rumola, Port Harcourt – it is described as a 4- star hotel with 117 rooms according to information monitored on the cable.
The certificate of occupancy giving legal backing to the landed property it operates from was revoked by governor Wike over the weekend.
Both Wike and Amaechi who is a favourite at the hospitality place are embroiled in a fierce political “war”.
Here are the reasons for Governor Wike’s action according to communication credited to his spokesperson Simeon Nwakaudu.
“On Saturday, 30th July 2017, Novotel lived up to its notorious reputation as a den of electoral fraudsters. Amaechi and his associates used the hotel to rig the APC local government congress. This ungodly action led to mass protests across Port Harcourt, which culminated in protests within the premises of Novotel.
“It took the timely intervention of Governor Wike for the situation to be contained as the security personnel detailed to assist the minister of transportation rig his party’s non-elective congress almost opened fire on the protesters.
“While Governor Wike continues to build the framework for investments in the state, he will continue to insist that all businesses operate in line with the tenets of the law.”
But Amaechi’s ally and his former commissioner for information when he was governor of rivers state described wike’s action as “Political”.
