Tourists have been strongly advised to stay away from one of the nation’s famous sites.

The site is located in Abuja, the federal capital territory.

Societynow.ng gathered the place known as Mpape Crushed rock is believed to have been taken over by hoodlums who lurk in shadowy places to harass and steal from the visitors.

According to information sourced by societynow.ng on Wikipedia, the Quarry was opened in 1977 but abandoned in around 2010 after it served the purpose of one of the major contributors of the stones used to build the federal capital territory.

The quarry – and a lake – has since transformed into a popular tourist site.

Emerging details have it that with rising insecurity, some unscrupulous individuals have turned the place into where to get soft targets.

The number of these criminal elements is said to be growing and tourists are strongly advised to stay away from the site until adequate security is put in place.
