Former Senate President – and ex- Governor – Bukola Saraki made what is widely hailed a triumphant return to Kwara State today, November 14, 2020.

The development comes barely a year and half that Saraki and his co-travelers were thoroughly rejected at the polls in the state – with his sister Gbemi working against him.

But the former Governor returned to the state capital, Ilorin today, Saturday, November 14, 2020 “hand in hand” with his sister Gbemi amid wild jubilation to celebrate another anniversary of the death of his late father Olusola Saraki.

Bukola Saraki who lost his grip on the government – and politics – of Kwara state in 2019 was heralded into the state today with a sea of jubilant supporters and residents.

‘This is a very big bad news for the ruling party because what happened today just breathed life and confidence back into the formidable but forced underground Saraki political structure” societynow.ng learned.

The ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) that edged out Bukola Saraki and his People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is currently bedeviled with infighting over control while struggling to retain public acceptance.

Societynow.ng gathered that inability of new Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq’s to fulfill the much anticipated and over-hyped economic promises and social bliss within an unrealistic timeline has created resentment against his administration.

“It is against this background that Saraki rode into town amid wild jubilation today, it is really bad news for the governor and his party because the rejected Saraki has just been decorated in the garb of perfect alternative or savior” a source pointed out.

Riding on his ingenuity and the age-long popularity of his father, Bukola Saraki lost his hold on the government and politics of Kwara state via an intense campaign branded O’toge (It is enough).

Saraki lost his bid to return to the Senate and had his allies and supporters rejected at the polls as well.

The O’toge was the fierce opposition to the Sarakis age-long grip on Kwara state and it saw the former governor and his sister Gbemi Saraki working at opposing ends.

Gbemi sided with the ruling All Progressives Congress against her brother’s PDP in the 2019 general election.

Though she emerged a Minister Gbemi’s influence and relevance within the new government and state remained “muted.”

‘She was persecuted along with her brother despite being on the winning side” societynow.ng learned.

Insiders disclosed that Gbemi’s ‘open association’ with her brother to relive the memory of their father says a lot about “the present” and “political possibilities “ in the future.

‘Because these were siblings that went all out against each other but obviously they have learned the lessons in the saying that when brothers fight, strangers get their inheritance and have decided to join hands to recoup and protect theirs” societyow.ng learned.
