The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced online accreditation of journalists and media organisations seeking to cover the bye-elections scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026.

The elections will hold in five constituencies: Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe State; Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies in Bauchi State; Udu State Constituency in Delta State; and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano State.

INEC said interested media organisations are required to apply through the INEC Media Accreditation Portal (IMAP) at imap.inecnigeria.org.

The portal opened on Monday, August 24, and will close at midnight on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

The commission stressed that accreditation is strictly online and that no manual applications or late submissions will be entertained.

It also said there would be no extension of the deadline, urging media organisations to complete their applications and upload all required information and documents well before the portal closes.

According to INEC, only credible and duly registered media organisations will be considered for accreditation.

For enquiries or technical assistance, media organisations may contact 07088844564 or 08032861058.
