Heavy weight politician Otunba Iyiola Omisore has his eyes on a federal appointment, societynow.ng reliably pieced together.

Omisore is a former deputy governor of Osun State and senator of federal republic of Nigeria.

According to available information the former senator actually wants to be a minister in the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari when his second term takes shape.

And campaign to ensure things work out fine is said to have begun.

Only that he’s going about it discreetly, a source quickly added.

But those who are familiar with the politics of Osun state maintained Omisore’s ambition of becoming a member of Buhari’s cabinet is not realistic.

Checks by societynow.ng revealed there are top members of APC who are not down with Omisore getting Osun State ministerial slot.

The reason for this is simple – they don’t want him returned to prominence politically.

“They actually don’t want a situation that would transform him a power broker in the scheme of things once again” an insider disclosed.

Hence the move to stop him at all cost.

Checks by societynow.ng revealed the trio of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu – APC national leader, former governor Rauf Aregbesola and incumbent Gboyega Oyetola to be major actors working behind the scene to ensure Omisore did not return to political prominence.

“With what he did for APC during the last gubernatorial election in Osun State Otunba Omisore shouldn’t be lobbying to get slots for himself or his men. It should be an automatic thing… I understand they promised him senatorial ticket among other things… the senatorial ticket was given to another person,” a stakeholder in politics of Osun explained.

Otunba Omisore was talked into working for the ruling All Progressive Congress during the September 2018 gubernatorial election rerun in Osun State with agreement he would be given the party’s ticket to return to the Senate.

But the senatorial ticket was handed to Ajibola Famurewa, a loyalist of Ex Governor Aregbesola.

AJibola Famurewa lost to the candidate of opposition PDP Adenigba Fadahunsi at the 2019 general elections.

The same faith that saw the senatorial ticket slipping away evidently awaits him as powers within his new party are all out again to throw his dream of becoming a federal executive council member into the trash can.
