Why Polaris Bank C.E.O, Sonola Did Not Make Expected First Major Appearance

Adekunle Sonola, the new Chief Executive Officer at Polaris Bank did not make his much anticipated first major public appearance.

Sonola who resumed on Monday, October 24, 2022, was expected to show up at the prominent industry ceremonies hosted over the weekend – the BAFI Awards and The Nigerian Fintech Awards.

But the bank chief was not at either event where Polaris Bank won double recognitions as the “Best Digital Bank” and was also named ‘MSME Bank of the Year’.

“The C.E.O was out of town, he got caught up beyond schedule at the “strategic business engagement” he traveled for” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

It is believed that Sonola traveled to the “Northern part of the country” as part of efforts to lay a proper foundation for the mission of putting in place “a new era of sustainable growth leveraging on the foundation of the past Board of Directors”.

“He literally hit the ground running when he resumed” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

The Bank chief who is said to be emphasizing “teamwork” since he took over, however, gave the nod for a Polaris Bank squad led by influential Executive Director, Segun Opeke to represent the bank at the barometers for excellence among top performers in the banking financial services sectors.

The BAFI Awards – BusinessDAY’s Banks And Other Financial Institutions – was held on Saturday, November 6, 2022, while the Nigerian Fintech Awards was hosted on Friday, November 5, 2022.

VULTe by Polaris Bank was named Best Digital Bank at BAFI Awards and The Nigerian Fintech Awards.

Polaris Bank was declared ‘MSME Bank of the Year’ at the BAFI Awards.

The latest win at BAFI Awards makes it back-to-back recognition for VULTe which won the same category at last year’s edition.
